The European Court of Auditors (ECA) has decided to establish the “European Court of Auditors Award for research into public sector auditing” (Jesus Lazaro Cuenca) for academic research linked to public audit and to the ECA’s mission and values in order to provide an incentive and recognition for research on public audit related issues. The winner(s) will receive from the ECA a medal, an award certificate and a prize of EUR 5,000.

The TBU Student Union has organized an enjoyable afternoon (not only) for TBU students, to take place in the park near František Bartoš Regional Library on Tuesday, 11 May 2010. The event entitled “Student Union in the Park” is scheduled to start at 15:00 and will last until 20:00. The programme includes various sports and games such as pétanque, ludo, marbles, jumping in bags, frisbees, etc. The entry is free for everybody!
Indonesian traditional dances, songs and folk costumes will be presented in the University Centre building (U13) on
Friday, 7 May 2010. Students of the
Universitas Pembangunan Nasional in Yogyakarta will give their performance at
10:00.

In connection with the Rag Day, to take place on 4 May 2010, an official time off starting at 11:00 has been announced. At the time announced, no classes will be held at the TBU faculties in Zlin and the examination sessions and tutorial hours of academic workers shall be cancelled.
An official day off that applies to all students at FAI has been announced by the Dean for the time between 7:00 and 13:00 on Thursday, 29 April 2010, and that because of the international competition STOČ 2010 held in the faculty building. No classes will be held during the mentioned time.
The Rector’s Sports Day will take place on 6 May 2010.
Students have to register on the website www.utb.cz (FaME) between 12:00 on 22 April 2010 and 20:00 on 3 May 2010. Course-unit credits in sports activities will be given after the termination of the Rector’s Sports Day. Points will be awarded for participation and victory in the individual sports.

The plenary session within the conference “Responsible Innovations-Bata’s Legacy to Europe“ will be held in the Assembly Hall (Academia Centre of TBU in Zlín) between 13:00 and 15:30 on 22 April 2010.
The final night of MISS ACADEMIA will take place in the Municipal Theatre in Zlín on 31 March 2010. The event will be transmitted live through the website of NEON TV (University TV channel), just like last year.

The Academic Senate of the TBU Faculty of Applied Informatics has organized a gathering of the FAI academic community, to be held in the lecture hall A107 in the U5 building at 13:00 on Monday 22 March 2010. During the gathering of the FAI academic community an official time off has been announced by the Dean.
The fourteenth edition of the “Anti” Ball, organized by the TBU Student Union, will be held in the Golem and Flip clubs on Tuesday, 23 March 2010. The event will start at 20:00, the entrance fee for participants with a mask is CZK 20, for those without a mask it is CZK 40. In the Golem club the bands Neo Chess Sunny and Tatroska will be on stage, visitors to the Flip club will enjoy oldies. At midnight the winners of the competition for the best fancy dress outfit will be announced in both clubs.
FAI signed a bilateral contract with the European University Cyprus, thus enabling the FAI students to travel to another country within the ERASMUS project.
The next edition of the Gala Night will be held in the assembly hall (Academia Centre – Faculty of Management and Economics) at 19:00 on Tuesday, 16 March 2010. The project implemented by FAME students aims at highlighting the work by talented university students.

The remaining (standing and seating) tickets for the TBU Gala Ball will be on sale in the TBU Refectory (U4) between 11:00 and 15:00 on Monday, 15 March 2010. The seating ticket price includes a bottle of sparkling wine, etc. The standing ticket price is CZK 300 (full-time students), CZK 350 (others); the seating ticket price is CZK 400 (full-time students), CZK 450 (others).
The tickets will be on sale on Thursday, 4 March 2010.You can collect them in the U44 building (former seat of the TBU Library) at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications, on the ground floor in the conference room No. 109 between 10:00 and 15:00. Please bring your ID card or university chip card with you. Full-time students must present all student cards that have been entered into the system and are used to receive a price reduction for students. Without presenting the cards no reduction in price is possible.
The organizers of the “MISS ACADEMIA of the Czech Republic 2010” beauty contest will give a big party, to be held in Musicland at 22:00 on 23 February 2010 and featuring the start of the public on-line voting - MISS ACADEMIA ON-LINE 2010. Those attending the party can look forward to a lot of good music by DJ Prudík, to the countdown to start the voting at midnight, and, last but not least, to an interesting competition offering prizes sponsored by the “Vitar” company.

The casting to select models and hostesses for the 10th Gala Ball of Tomas Bata University in Zlín will be held in the University Centre (U13), room 540, at 14:00 on Tuesday, 23 February 2010. The University Ball will take place in the “Moskva” hotel on 19 March 2010 and host fashion show featuring underwear and dresses designed by the employees of the TBU Faculty of Multimedia Communications. There is no need to wear ball dress for those who want to participate in the casting; a T-shirt, jeans, a swimsuit, high-heeled shoes and a picture of the participant (for identification purposes) are sufficient. The TBU Gala Ball is always a highlight of the university life in Zlín.
In compliance with Rector’s Decree No. 1/2010 an official time off has been announced by the Rector on the occasion of the “Festive Gathering of Staff and Students of TBU in Zlín” and that for the period between 12:00 and 15:00 on 17 February 2010. The official time off applies to TBU staff and students actively participating in the above-mentioned event.

FAI signed a bilateral contract with the University of Malta, thus enabling the FAI students to travel to another country within the ERASMUS project.
We would like to invite you to attend another event held within the project “Dumb Creature” – the traditional "Christmas in the Animal Shelter", to take place for the second time in the Animal Shelter in Zlín-Vršava at 17:00 on 9th December 2009. Just like last year, everyone will be enabled to contribute to pet food, vaccines and to the operation of this animal home by buying a Christmas ball. Besides, the visitors will be able to enjoy hot tea, delicious mulled wine, sweet-smelling gingerbread and Christmas carols sung by children. Come to visit dogs and cats and prepare a very merry Christmas for them!

TBU Christmas Tree will be illuminated again, and that in front of the U2 building of Tomas Bata University in Zlín at Mostní Street at
17:00 on Wednesday, 9th December 2009. The visitors can look forward to the performance to be given by the brass quintet of Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, carol singing and meeting St. Nicholas. The entry is free. At 18:00 the projection of the fairy-tale movie “Give the Devil His Due“ will start in the Wichterle Hall (U2 building).

The election of the candidate to be appointed as the new TBU Rector will be held on 10th April 2007.

The TBU Academic Senate calls the election of FAI representatives in the TBU Academic Senate to take place on Thursday 15/02/2007 and on Friday 16/02 2007.
The Tomas Bata Foundation has the pleasure to announce the creation of the „Thomas Bata Foundation Prize" to be awarded to a student of Tomas Bata University for the best thesis written and successfully defended in the English language for the academic year 2006-2007. The Prize is aiming at arousing interest among students in applying their knowledge of English as well as at stimulating the development of bilingualism at TBU. The winning candidate will be offered a two week internship with the BATA SHOE ORGANIZATION in a foreign country and depending on the candidate's line of study.

The inauguration ceremony of the Faculty of Applied Informatics (FAI) of the Tomas Bata University in Zlín and of its first Dean, Prof. Vladimír Vašek, CSc., was held on 23rd May 2006 in the university building at the Jižní Svahy campus in Zlín.
Inaugurated as the new Dean, Prof. Vašek took the solemn oath and received the academic symbols - insignia - intended for the Dean and the Faculty. University representatives were present at the academic ceremony including the University Rector, Prof. Ing. Petr Sáha, CSc., giving the inaugural address.
The chain as a symbol of an academic post including the related competences was handed over to four newly appointed Vice-Deans of the Faculty of Applied Informatics: RNDr. Jan Ostravský, CSc., Ing. Tomáš Sysala, Ph.D., Mgr. Milan Adámek, Ph.D. and doc. Ing. Ivan Zelinka, CSc.
Prof. Ing. Jaroslav Balátě, DrSc. and Prof. Ing. Antonín Víteček, dr. h. c., were awarded commemorative medals as a reward for their contribution to the establishment of FAI as the fourth faculty of the Tomas Bata University in Zlín.
The opening ceremony to inaugurate the Laboratories of Integrated Automation shall take place on 23rd May 2006 at 13:30 at the Faculty of Applied Informatics at the Jižní Svahy campus, in the room No. 107.
The inauguration ceremony to officially open the Faculty of Applied Informatics of the Tomas Bata University in Zlín, established on 1st January 2006, will be held on Tuesday, 23rd May 2006 at 11:00 in the great lecture hall A107 at the Faculty of Applied Informatics at the Jižní Svahy campus in Zlín.

On 28/03/2006 Prof. Ing. Petr Sáha, CSc., Rector of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, handed over the letter of appointment to the new Dean of the Faculty of Applied Informatics (FAI) prof. Ing. Vladimír Vašek, CSc., elected to hold office as Dean with a four-year term of office by the FAI Academic Senate in a secret ballot on 27/03/2006.

Faculty of Applied Informatics established at the Tomas Bata University in Zlin
In compliance with the decision No. 3/2005 taken by the Academic Senate of the Tomas Bata University in Zlin and with the positive statement issued by the Accreditation Commission, the Faculty of Applied Informatics was established at the Tomas Bata University in Zlin on 1st January 2006.
Students studying in the accredited bachelor's and master's degree programmes Engineering Informatics and Chemical and Process Engineering and the doctoral degree programme Chemical and Process Engineering, all offered by the Faculty of Technology at the Tomas Bata University in Zlin, by 31st December 2005, become students of the Faculty of Applied Informatics at the Tomas Bata University in Zlin starting from 1st January 2006.
This Decree comes into effect on 1st January 2006.
