On 19 December 2012 the University Chess Tournament 2012 was held at the Faculty of Applied Informatics.

I regret to have to inform you of the death of Prof. Ing. Jaroslav Balátě, DrSc., our long-time colleague, and, at present, a honorary member of our Scientific Board. Prof. Balátě died on 6 December 2012.

An official time off has been announced by the Rector on the occasion of the “Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day” and related events held in Zlín. The official time off will start at 16:00 on 13 November 2012.
The Department of Physical Training has organized the following competitions on the occasion of the anniversary of 17 November:
The new Technology Park focusing on information and communication technologies was officially opened on 24 October 2012. The Technology Park has been built as a part of the University campus U5 on Jižní Svahy, in close proximity to the Faculty of Applied Informatics. “The new Park will offer employment prospects right in Zlín to the Faculty graduates and will thus encourage them to stay in the region after completing their studies,” Prof. Petr Sáha, TBU Rector, points out.
An open meeting of the Scientific Board and of the Industrial Board of the Faculty of Applied Informatics including the official opening of the ICT Technology Park will take place in the lobby of the U5 building (Faculty of Applied Informatics) at 11:00 on Wednesday, 24 October 2012.
The office hours for part-time students have been extended as follows:
Saturday 22 September 2012 from 08:00 to 14:00 – Student Affairs Office at FAI
28 and 29 September 2012 – independent unit in Prague, from 10:00 to 14.00 (address to be added), and from 08:00 to 14:00 on Saturdays until the end of October.
The resit date for final state examinations is 13 September 2012.

8:30 – 12:00, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
The Student Affairs Office at FAI will be closed on 4 and 10 July 2012 (graduation ceremonies) and on 12 July 2012 (enrolment).
The graduation ceremonies at FAI will take place in the TBU Assembly Hall, Mostní Street 5139 (U2 building):

Due to the continued work on the completion of the construction of the ICT Technology Park, the fibre-optic cable currently used to connect the U1 and U5 buildings will be replaced with a new one with a higher capacity of optical fibres. The related work will be carried out from 12:00 on Friday, 11 May 2012 to 13 May 2012. If unexpected problems occur, the work may also continue during Monday, 14 May 2012.
The Rector’s Sports Day organized by the Department of Physical Training will take place on 3 May 2012. All employees and students are cordially invited to actively participate in the event.
In compliance with Rector’s Decision No. 5/2012 an official time off has been announced by the Rector, to take place from 12:00 on 26 April 2012 on the occasion of a special session of the TBU Scientific Board, to be held in the University Centre building (U13) at 13:00 on the same day. The official time off applies to TBU students and staff who have been invited to attend the event.
An official time off has been announced by the Rector on the occasion of the gathering of the TBU academic community, and that for the period between 12:00 and 15:00 on 15 February 2012.
During the time announced, no classes will be held at the TBU faculties and the examination sessions and consultation hours of academic staff shall be cancelled.
The second Sailors’ Ball will take place at the Faculty of Applied Informatics at 19:00 on Saturday, 25 February 2012.
The squash and badminton season of the University League – the biggest amateur league in the Czech Republic - starts in February! 21 squash players and 23 badminton players participated in the autumn season’s events held in Zlín. The upcoming spring season will take place from February to May, both beginners and experienced players are welcome to join the League.
FAI signed a bilateral contract with the University of Peloponnese (Greece) which enables FAI students to travel to Greece within the ERASMUS student exchange programme.
FAI signed a new Erasmus bilateral agreement with the University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia.
